Dolce Hotels and Resorts, a privately held operator of 26 upscale hotels, resorts and conference hotels in North America and Europe, today announced the appointment of Judson L. Hawk, III, a 24-year lodging veteran with extensive experience operating upscale properties, as general manager of its Aspen Meadows Resort in Colorado.

Hawk previously served Related Westpac of Snowmass Village, Colo., as general manager, responsible for vacation rental property management and commercial building operations management. He had direct oversight of two hotels, a 15,000-square-foot conference center, 300 rental properties, both condominium and private residences and the main village shopping center.

From 2007 to 2008 he was general manager of The Hotel Jerome, an historic, 93-room luxury hotel in Aspen managed by RockResorts, where he led a successful turnaround effort.  From 2000 to 2007 he was general manager of The Ritz-Carlton Club, a private residence club that he helped to open in Aspen Highlands, Colo.  It includes 30,000 square feet of commercial space.

Hawk was general manager of The Lodge and Spa at Cordillera, an independently developed 56-room luxury lodge and spa in Edwards, Colo., from 1998 to 2000.  He held positions of increasing responsibility for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company from 1986 to 1998 including executive assistant manager of hotels in Florida, Colorado and Virginia.

He is a 1985 graduate of Georgia State University, Atlanta, where he received a bachelor’s degree in economics and sociology.  A resident of Basalt, Colo., Hawk has been an active community volunteer.

Dolce Hotels and Resorts manages the Aspen Meadows Resort on behalf of The Aspen Institute.  The hotel and conference center is situated on 40 acres in the historic west end of Aspen along the Roaring Fork River, surrounded by views of the Colorado Rockies.

Designed in the Bauhaus style of architecture, the resort caters to meeting groups and vacationers.  All suites feature wireless high-speed Internet service, high-definition, flat-panel televisions, large study areas and floor-to-ceiling windows offering mountain views.

The resort’s 15 function rooms totaling 22,000 square feet of space are certified by the International Association of Conference Centers.  Its new Doerr-Hosier Center is Gold LEED™ Certified as a building that is environmentally responsible, profitable and a healthy place to visit and work.

Resort facilities include a year-round outdoor pool and hot tub as well as a health club featuring state-of-the-art cardio equipment and tennis courts. Nearby downtown Aspen features one-of-a kind restaurants, shopping and cultural experiences. The area's four mountains – Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Snowmass and Buttermilk – offer world-class skiing.
