The RockResorts Vail Collection announces the appointments of Stephan Nicolas as general manager at The Lodge at Vail, and Jonathan Brownlee as hotel manager at The Arrabelle at Vail Square. In their new roles, Nicolas and Brownlee will oversee all aspects of daily operations at these award-winning premier Rocky Mountain resorts.
Nicolas brings 15 years of hospitality industry experience to The Lodge at Vail, A RockResort. Since 2007, Nicolas served as general manager of Keystone Lodge & Spa in Keystone, CO, during which time he led the hotel to achieve a AAA Four Diamond rating for its 20th consecutive year, and oversaw major renovation projects including a spa re-launch, restaurant and hotel upgrades, and implementation of award-winning environmental practices. Previously, he spent three years as resident manager of Equinox Resort & Spa (formerly A RockResort) in Manchester Village, VT. Under his supervision, the resort consistently exceeded RockResorts brand standard audits and guest satisfaction benchmarks. Nicolas has also held tenures as general manager of Legendary Inns of Newport and hotel manager at Cliffside Inn, both in Newport, RI. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management from Johnson and Wales University in Providence, RI.
Brownlee joins The Arrabelle at Vail Square, A RockResort, from The Lodge at Vail, where he was the director of rooms since 2007 overseeing all reservations, housekeeping, front desk, concierge and bell operations. He also managed The Austria Haus Hotel. Prior to that, he served in the positions of front office manager, director of housekeeping and housekeeping manager/evening manager on duty at The Lodge at Vail. During his tenure, Brownlee founded The Lodge at Vail’s Green Team, a task force dedicated to analyzing current sustainable practices and implementing the most efficient environmental strategies in all hotel operations. Prior to joining Vail Resorts, Brownlee was the front office manager at the Chase Park Plaza in his native St. Louis, MO.
