PALM SPRINGS, CALIF. – Hotel Zoso, an independent luxury 162-room resort in the heart of downtown Palm Springs, plans a September opening.
The property, on the former site of the Marquis Resort, will feature what hotel officials said would be hip, modern design elements throughout the remodeled public space, spa, fine-dining restaurant and café. A remade pool deck will be the figurative centerpiece of the property.
The name Zoso represents opposite ends of the spectrum of life and the balance in nature, hotel officials said. A soft, contemporary design coupled with elements of surprise will welcome guests at the property. Over-scaled, unique and unexpected furniture, artwork and accessories will be signatures of Zoso, balanced by an earth-toned color palette.
Guestrooms combine clean lines with contrasting colors and textures, and edginess with romance. The rooms will feature queen beds with high headboards and 350 thread count sheets, oversized nightstands and long credenzas with stainless steel accents, flat screen TV and faux fur throws and custom art work. The bathrooms will feature Heavenly showerheads, gray and bright polished chrome accents, travertine countertops and oversized tiles on the floor and surrounding the tub. Herman Miller Aeron chairs, a functional work desk and high-speed Internet access are also included.
The pool area’s design and atmosphere will be a highlight of the property. Freestanding sunshades, multiple cabanas, numerous water features with light accents and exotic lush landscaping with a new misting system will surround the pool itself, contributing to a chic environment A poolside bar and café will be open throughout the day, while a hot tub and fire pit will compliment the rest of the patio features.
One café will offer casual three-meal dining with a trendy edge, while a second fine dining restaurant will feature gourmet fare. A high-end spa is planned and will feature a menu of spa and medical treatments. Additional amenities include a business center and fitness facilities.
Set on four acres in the middle of downtown Palm Springs, Zoso is near Palm Canyon drive and shops, galleries and dining. Also nearby are the new Indian Canyon’s Golf Club and Arnold Palmer Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort.
