ROCKVILLE, MD--Jonathan Nehmer Associates (JN A), a leading Architecture and Project Management firm in the hospitality industry, has announced that Jonathan C. Nehmer, AIA, ISHC, Founder and Chairman of JN A is retiring at the end of 2019. Nehmer took a step back in 2015 to focus on business development and handed over the day-to-day operations of the firm to Warren G. Feldman and Scott P. Rosenberg, who will continue to lead JN A.

Nehmer started his career as an architect for the Marriott Corporation before moving to Ramada Hotels, where he held the position of Vice President of Design and Technical Services. In 1989, Nehmer, along with his wife Geri, formed his own company to focus on providing project management and architecture services for the hospitality industry. In 2000, he partnered with HVS International to form HVS Design, a leading hospitality interior design firm. HVS Design enhanced their offerings by adding a Branding division recently. Today, Feldman, Rosenberg, and Christine Shanahan serve as principals of HVS Design.

“Jon worked diligently to create and establish the firms with a focus on providing clients with innovative designs that align with their budget, are delivered on schedule, and satisfy the guests’ needs,” said Warren G. Feldman, chief executive officer of JN A. “He is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of the hospitality design and construction industry. Over the past the five years, Scott and I have continued to nurture the firm’s lasting reputation as a recognized industry leader in design and project management. We look forward to the future of the firms and building upon the foundation and legacy he left us.”

Over the span of his career, Nehmer has been regarded as an industry expert, being featured in numerous publications and on discussion panels. He received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Maryland, and he is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the International Society of Hospitality Consultants. Mr. Nehmer served as co-committee chair of the 2007 ISHC CapEx Study. Since that time, JN A and HVS Design have continued to update renovation capital expenditure costs on an annual basis for the hospitality industry through their Hotel Cost Estimating Guide publication.

Today, JN A and HVS Design have grown to employ a staff of 50 architects, designers, project managers, and administrative staff to coordinate the design process. The firms engage in renovations, repositioning, historic restorations, and new build projects around the world for a variety of project types, including hotels, resorts, conference centers, mixed-use developments, restaurants, and office/retail spaces.
