The Embassy Suites Amarillo Downtown will become home for the upscale Las Brisas Southwest Steakhouse in June. The 226-room, 6-floor hotel is owned and operated by Dallas-based NewcrestImage, while the 118-seat restaurant will be owned and operated by Howard Restaurant Group, based in Lubbock, Texas.

“Las Brisas will provide hotel guests as well as local residents with a dining experience that is high-quality, yet comfortable,” said Kendall Howard, CEO of the Howard Restaurant Group. “Our food is prepared and served with respect for the ingredients, the people, and the setting, which is why we were attracted to the superb atmosphere and location of the Embassy Suites.

The hotel, rated “four diamonds” by AAA for its amenities and service, is located in the heart of downtown Amarillo across the street from the Amarillo Civic Center complex; the Globe News Center of Performing Arts; and a new 40,000-seat outdoor stadium that is scheduled to open in April as the site for minor league baseball as well as various sports and music events.

“We have carefully designed the Embassy Suites to be a magnet for business and leisure travelers, while also being an exciting new destination for the local community,” added Mehul Patel, Chairman and CEO of NewcrestImage. “The Las Brisas Steakhouse will continue our hotel’s reputation as a place to have very unique experiences and to make very special memories.”

Build-out of the Las Brisas restaurant is expected to begin in February, with opening scheduled for June. The menu will feature premium wines, cocktails, seafood, and Angus steaks sourced from one of the few certified humane cattle ranching operations in the United States. Beef will be cooked in specialty ovens that reach 2,500 degrees.

The Howard Restaurant Group owns and operates nine restaurants in west Texas, including the original Las Brisas location in Lubbock. The company plans to expand with 15 additional restaurants within the next five years.

NewcrestImage owns and operates a portfolio of 28 distinctive properties, including a 107-room, 10-floor Courtyard by Marriott in Amarillo’s historic Fisk Building, which opened in 2011. The company has 15 projects under construction and development, including the second and third properties in a three-hotel, 300-room “hotel campus” in western Amarillo.
