Officials of New Castle Hotels & Resorts, a leading hotel owner, operator and developer, today named Susan Barry, director of sales and marketing for the 289-room The Westin Portland Harborview in Portland Maine.

An award-winning sales executive, Barry was most recently the president of Hive Marketing, a consultancy offering task force, due diligence and pre-opening sales and marketing services to the hospitality industry. Prior to starting her own firm, Barry served as director of sales and marketing at several Starwood Hotels and Resorts over a span of 10 years.

"Susan's outstanding credentials with the Starwood family of hotels and her subsequent experience launching and ramping hotels across the country make her uniquely suited for this assignment," said Gerry Chase, president and COO. "She has a track record of exceeding even the most aggressive sales goals, nurturing sales talent and achieving double digit RevPAR gains for the hotels she supports. I feel certain that with an outstanding product like The Westin Portland Harborview, the newest historic hotel in such a vibrant city, she will be successful beyond even her own expectations."

Barry is a published industry expert on hotel marketing and social media whose articles and industry insight have appeared in eHotelier, Hotel Interactive®, HotelChatter and TNooz.

"The Westin Portland Harborview is the newest, most elegant hotel in the city and benefits from a brand that is well-aligned with an environmentally aware, fitness-focused market," Barry said. "There is no doubt that visitors to Portland will embrace this hotel and that it quickly will reclaim its place as the heart of the Portland community."

Located in the heart of Portland's arts district at 157 High Street, the 289-room and suite Westin Portland Harborview is the result of an 18-month, $50 million renovation that transformed a beloved, 1920s era grand dame into the city's most elegant hotel. The Westin Portland Harborview is within easy walking distance of the city's best dining, shopping and art galleries, as well as the Old Port District. Recently ranked the fifth hippest city in the U.S. by Travel & Leisure magazine readers and the #1 Foodiest small town by Bon Appetit, Portland is celebrated for its live music scene, fine dining, independent boutiques and eco-friendly lifestyle.
