Cypress Inn announced the appointment of Crystal Petersson as General Manager of the iconic 1920 historic landmark, effective July 15, 2014. Petersson will be responsible for all aspects of daily operations and leadership management of the 44-guestroom property co-owned by legendary Hollywood actor and animal rights enthusiast Doris Day. Key duties include overseeing all marketing/branding initiatives, food & beverage operations and driving group and leisure sales efforts. www.cypress-inn.com.

Petersson joins Cypress Inn from Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa where she served as sales manager for the Western U.S. A long-time resident of Carmel Valley, Petersson also held multiple positions at Pebble Beach Resorts from 2004 to 2013 including sales manager, catering/conference services manager and risk and insurance administrator.

"Ms. Petersson is a valuable asset to the Cypress Inn team," says co-owner Denny LeVett. "This is a unique and storied property that requires a varied skill set."

A resident of Seaside, Calif., Petersson resides with her husband, three small children and dachshund, Cooper. She has held board posts at the Monterey County Young Professionals Group (2009-10) and was Vice President for Bay View Academy Community Volunteer Organization (2011-12). She enjoys camping, travel, food, wine and Monterey County's rich line up of natural assets in her spare time.

HOLLYWOOD BY-THE-SEA
From the ornate enrance to the clubby Terry's Lounge and fidos in fedoras, everything about the Cypress Inn speaks to the Golden Age of Hollywood. A vintage vibe runs through the property which has long been a magnet for celebrities and film industry gurus attend the annual Carmel Art & Film Festival -- which the inn hosts (October). Hollywood fllm memorabilia and a classic cocktail carte featuring the favorite libations of Day's leading film co-stars round out the Mediterranean-style landmark.

PIONEER IN PET FRIENDLY
Ahead of the curve, Cypress Inn was one of California's first hotel properties to welcome pets in the mid-1980s and has since seen everything from parrots to potbellied pigs check in for an adventure by the sea. Standard operating procedure includes concierges carrying grain-free all-natural dog treats and guestrooms appointed with dog bowls, plush dog blankets and in-room fireplaces. Terry's Lounge rolls out a daily Yappy Hour including a culinary canine menu and Muttinis for four-legged companions.

BACKSTORY
An iconic landmark since 1929 and part of the elite collection of Carmel Boutique Inns, Cypress Inn embodies Hollywood-by-the-Sea elegance with casual seaside charm. Co-owned by legendary Hollywood actor and animal rights enthusiast Doris Day, the 44-guestroom property is set in a Mediterranean footprint with vaulted ceilings, airy courtyards, in-room fireplaces and a crisp, contemporary décor. Ideally located just blocks from Carmel Beach, the 17-Mile Drive and walking distance to 80+ art galleries, Cypress Inn offers a pet-friendly Yappy Hour and sustainable dining menu at Terry's Restaurant & Lounge, Carmel's first Seafood Watch program participant. Carmel-by-the-Sea is one square mile of incorporated city set along Carmel Bay on the Monterey Peninsula. It is located 120 mi./192 km., south of San Francisco and 350 mi./560 km., north of Los Angeles. The Monterey Peninsula Airport (MRY) is served by non-stop flights from Denver (DIA), Las Vegas (LAS), Los Angeles (LAX), Phoenix (PHX), San Diego (SAN) and San Francisco (SFO).
