Atlanta hospitality executive Peter McMahon begins today as General Manager of historic Peachtree Street hotel
Hyatt Hotels Corp. has named Hyatt veteran and long- time Atlanta hotel executive Peter McMahon as the new General Manager of Hyatt Regency Atlanta.

McMahon was previously General Manager of Hyatt Regency San Antonio and Grand Hyatt San Antonio, where he has served since 2010. He was formerly General Manager of the Hyatt Regency Savannah and Hyatt Regency Suites Atlanta Northwest. He also served as the Executive Assistant Manager and Food and Beverage Director of Hyatt Regency Atlanta.

Joe Hindsley, who has served as Hyatt Regency Atlanta's General Manager since 2004, has been named General Manager of Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch. Both McMahon and Hindsley will start their new positions today, July 15.

A native of Tulsa, Okla., McMahon joined Hyatt in 1994, when he was hired by Hindsley as a manager at Hyatt Regency DFW International Airport. His family's permanent home is outside Atlanta in Cobb County.

"Joining Hyatt Regency Atlanta is a homecoming for me, "McMahon said. "I have served at almost every Hyatt hotel in Georgia and my children have been raised in the Atlanta area. It is an honor to return and replace a mentor and great friend Joe Hindsley."

"My family and I consider Atlanta home, and I'm excited to come back to Hyatt Regency Atlanta and continue its proud history of unparalleled hospitality, industry leadership and innovation and commitment to the Atlanta community."

Hindsley, a 30-year Hyatt veteran, was named Hyatt's "General Manager of the Year" among all large Hyatt hotels for 2012. He was the driving force behind the hotel's successful $65 million transformation, which included redesigning and updating its 1,260 guestrooms, dining experiences and 180,000 square feet of meeting and convention

"We're proud of all that we've accomplished over the past nine years here in Atlanta, and
I'm happy about the opportunity to move back to St.Louis, which my family calls home," Hindsley said. "I've known Peter McMahon for some 20 years, and I know he will do a great job. Hyatt as always had a strong commitment to Atlanta, and brought great industry and community leaders to Hyatt Regency Atlanta, and that commitment continues with Peter."
