San Francisco Travel Association adds senior sales managers

In an effort to grow their regional offices and expand their services to customers in important markets in the East and Northeast, the San Francisco Travel Association has added two new Senior Managers of Convention Sales.

Debbie Jordan is now Senior Manager, Convention Sales, Eastern Region. Susanna C. Flores will join San Francisco Travel on December 3 as Senior Manager, Convention Sales, Northeast Region.

In her new position, Jordan is responsible for generating self-contained meeting business in the Maryland and Virginia markets. She brings over 20 years of hospitality experience including prior sales experience with Marriott International, the former San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau (now San Francisco Travel), Monterey Convention & Visitors Bureau and most recently with the Anaheim Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau. She will be located at the D.C. Regional Offices.


Susanna C. Flores will begin her new position as Senior Manager, Convention Sales, Northeast Region on December 3. She will be responsible for generating self-contained meeting business in the Northeast markets.

Flores is a graduate of Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration and brings over 15 years of hospitality experience which includes prior catering and hotel sales experience with River Place Hotel/Portland Oregon, Great Performances Catered Events/New York City, Le Parker Meriden Hotels/New York City, Swissotel Chicago and most recently as Choose Chicago’s (Chicago’s Official DMO) National Sales Manager for the Northeast market based in New York City.


Flores is an active member of Meeting Professionals International (MPI), Northeast CVB Reps, Financial and Insurance Conference Planners (FICP) and the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) New York and Philadelphia Chapters. She will be located in New York City.

Both will report directly to Kenley Moy, San Francisco Travel’s Vice President, National Sales Offices.
In announcing the new additions, Moy said, “Having presence in these markets is a game-changer for San Francisco, as the city looks ahead to exciting events and significant new infrastructure in the years ahead. We welcome both Debbie and Susanna to the San Francisco Travel Association family and are delighted to have them as part of the sales and services team.”

"These new positions, requested and approved by our Board of Directors, are an important step forward in capturing more convention and meetings business for San Francisco, both citywide and self-contained, via direct sales efforts,” said John Reyes, San Francisco Travel’s Executive Vice President & Chief Customer Officer, Convention Sales & Services.

“Through a recent Self-Contained Sales Redeployment assessment, we have identified a tremendous number of business opportunities in the Eastern Region and Northeast Regions,” Reyes said. “Competition for convention business is fierce. San Francisco and San Francisco Travel need to increase our direct sales efforts to reach more citywide conventions and group meetings customers to continually grow the convention and meeting business for our hospitality community.”

San Francisco has recently begun working more aggressively at attracting smaller meetings to the city, and has launched a new Self-Contained Meetings Advisory Council to explore ways to make San Francisco more attractive and accessible to meetings of all sizes. The city was also recently honored by PCMA as a “Best Place for Small Meetings.”
