The Claremont Hotel Club & Spa is pleased to announce the appointment of Ahelee Sue Osborn, a United States Masters Swimming champion and coach, as Aquatics Director for The Club at the Claremont. With more than 10 years of coaching experience, Osborn is tasked with developing, promoting and overseeing all water-based activities.
Osborn is responsible for supervising a full-time aquatics staff of five and a seasonal staff of six, as they instruct aquatics fitness programs and clinics for all club members and hotel guests. In addition, Osborn is developing a year-round aquatics program to improve fitness and raise awareness around the topic of water safety.
“I am thrilled to join such an exceptional team,” Osborn said. “The Claremont is dedicated to serving its guests in every way possible and I’m excited to be a part of the hotel’s first-class athletic program. I love the idea of helping everyone reach their athletic goals and with the wonderful aquatic facilities at The Claremont, I believe we can do just that.”
After successfully completing a swim across the English Channel in 11 hours, 22 minutes in 2001, Osborn began her coaching career and has since gained extensive experience with a variety of swim programs including the UC Irvine Masters. She also coached the UC San Diego Masters, Davis Masters, Irvine NOVA Masters and the Mission Viejo Nadadores swim programs and most recently held the position of Head Swim Coach at Holy Names High School in Oakland, Calif. Osborn achieved American Swim Coaches Association Masters Certifications in Levels 1 and 2 and is a member of the United States Masters Swimming Coaches Committee.
“Osborn brings unmatched experience to our Aquatics Program along with love, passion and dedication to the sport of swimming,” said General Manager Bruce Carlton. “The Claremont is lucky to have her and we’re looking forward to the continued success of our athletics program.”
In addition to her extensive background in competitive swimming, Osborn is also an accomplished triathlon and marathon contender. She held the Hawaii Ironman record (10:12) in the women’s 35-39 age group from 1993-2005 and has competed in nearly 50 marathons. Osborn holds United States Masters Swimming (USMS) records in the 100 IM, 200 IM, 400 IM and 200 Backstroke in the women’s 50-54 age division. In 2011, Osborn won the USMS National Championship (Ages 50-54) in the 100 and 200 Backstroke.
When she’s not spending time with family, Osborn enjoys gardening, mediation and spending time with her friends.
