Hilton Garden Inn, the award-winning, mid-market hotel brand, today announced the opening of its first property in The Netherlands.  Hilton Garden Inn Leiden is situated in the key business region of Leiden between The Hague and Amsterdam and brings the total number of Hilton Worldwide properties in the country to seven.

Located on the Old Rhine River, Leiden boasts some of The Netherlands’ most famous tourist attractions.  The hotel is within view of the landmark CORPUS Museum, an unmistakable bronze structure in the shape of a human body, which offers an interactive, educational tour through the body and has conference facilities for up to 500 delegates.  The city’s reputable Bio-Science Park is also within walking distance and attracts students and businesses from across Europe.

Featuring 173 guestrooms and providing all of the brand's signature features, including the Garden Sleep System bed, ergonomic Mirra chair by Herman Miller, and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi internet access, Hilton Garden Inn Leiden will appeal to both leisure and business travelers.

Simon Vincent, Area President Europe, Hilton Worldwide said:  “Hilton Garden Inn has proven to be very successful in Europe with more than 55 hotels trading or in the pipeline.  This new opening in The Netherlands further elevates our multi-brand strategy for the Dutch market where we now have three of our six European brands operating and an exciting new Waldorf Astoria in the pipeline.  This superb mid-market Hilton Garden Inn Leiden will be a great new addition to our portfolio in Europe.”

Home to one of the oldest universities in Europe, Leiden’s town centre is approximately 10 minutes drive from the hotel.  The vibrant city, which is the birthplace of world-renowned artist Rembrandt, features picturesque churches and gardens stretching along the banks of the canal and has a high proportion of students, teachers and professionals.

At Hilton Garden Inn Leiden, guests will be able to relax in the surroundings of a contemporary restaurant and stylish bar or alternatively take advantage of the convenience of the 24- hour Pavillion Pantry offering snacks and lite bites on the go, round the clock. The hotel also offers a business centre and a health club along with a variety of flexible meeting space, with capacity for up to 80 guests.

Adrian Kurre, Global Head, Hilton Garden Inn, said, “Hilton Garden Inn is going from strength to strength in Europe and I am delighted that we are opening our first hotel in The Netherlands.  Our award-winning brand fills a gap in the market by providing internationally-branded, mid-market accommodation that appeals to value-conscious leisure and business travellers.  We look forward to welcoming the first guests at the hotel.”

Guests at Hilton Garden Inn Leiden will also have the opportunity to earn and redeem Hilton HHonors points and take advantage of benefits enjoyed by over 30 million members worldwide.

In 2011
Hilton Garden Inn received JD Power & Associates’ highest honour in Europe, taking first place in the European Hotel Guest Satisfaction Index Study for first time in the brand’s five-year history in Europe.  This marked the first time the brand had a sufficient sample size to rank in the European study, coming in 57 points higher than the segment average.

Hilton Worldwide has had a presence in The Netherlands for more than 50 years when Hilton Amsterdam opened.  It now has five Hilton Hotels & Resorts properties in market.  DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station opened in December 2011 and the leading hospitality company will introduce a new landmark Hilton at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in 2014.  Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam, created by combining six historic canal-side buildings, will open in late 2013.
