The Maritime Hotel, located in West Chelsea, announces two appointments to its executive team: General Manager Matt Moore and Director of Sales and Public Relations Callan Polmer.

In his role as General Manager, Moore will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of management and operations for The Maritime Hotel, including oversight of staff, recruitment and development, training, scheduling, preparation of annual budgets, and guest satisfaction.

Moore, with over ten years of experience in the hotel industry, most recently worked as Director of Front Office at the Greenwich Hotel in downtown Manhattan where he successfully hired, trained, and managed the opening team.  His new position at The Maritime is something of a homecoming, having worked at the hotel for four years prior to his time at the Greenwich.  He began as the Front Desk Supervisor, and after one year was promoted to Assistant Front Office Manager, where he managed a team of 12 guest service employees.  A resident of New York City for the past 12 years, Moore began his career in the hospitality industry as the F&B Assistant Service Manager on the opening team of the boutique Hudson Hotel in Manhattan.

“Matt’s many years spent working in the New York City hospitality industry combined with his experience on the opening team at The Maritime have equipped him with the skills necessary to manage the hotel,” said Richard Born, owner of The Maritime Hotel.  “We are pleased to welcome Matt back to The Maritime as General Manager.”

The Maritime Hotel is also pleased to announce the appointment of Callan Polmer as Director of Sales and Public Relations.  In her role, Polmer will be responsible for managing revenue, leading all sales activities throughout the hotel, and overseeing the reservations department.  Polmer will also lead the development and execution of The Maritime Hotel’s marketing plans.
Polmer comes to The Maritime Hotel with four years of experience in the New York City hospitality industry, where she worked as the Concierge Manager at the Soho and Tribeca Grand Hotels.  As Concierge Manager, Polmer led a team in planning and executing personalized itineraries for guests, and handling special requests both in and outside the hotel.   Prior to her position at the Soho and Tribeca Grand Hotels, Polmer worked as the Event Manager for Gabel Entertainment, an events managing company in Manhattan.  As Event Manager, Polmer was responsible for the execution of events and overseeing a team of promoters.
“Callan’s previous management experience in a fast-paced Manhattan hotel and her hands-on experience catering to a wide range of guest requests make her a valuable addition to The Maritime team,” said Born.

*Editor’s Note: Mr. Moore and Ms. Polmer are available for media interviews.

About The Maritime Hotel
The Maritime Hotel, with its signature porthole windows, is a modernist landmark in New York City’s West Chelsea neighborhood.  Originally built in 1968 as headquarters for the National Maritime Union, the striking building is now owned by hoteliers Eric Goode, Sean MacPherson, Richard Born, and Ira Drukier.  The building’s original nautical spirit infuses guest rooms and public areas, from the terrazzo lobby resembling classic 1960s flooring to the dramatic porthole windows.  In all 121 guest rooms and five penthouse suites, rounded wooden edges on bed platforms, dressers, and cabinets mimic the furniture of a ship.  Outside, the Maritime’s 10,000 square-foot garden is the largest of any hotel in New York.  The space is central to the hotel’s restaurant, La Bottega Trattoria, which serves acclaimed rustic Italian cuisine and offers both indoor and outdoor seating.
